For Rochdale, we are the Borough’s nominated Tree Consultants, and responsible for surveying Trees on council-owned properties throughout their borough. The Borough has over 30,000 trees, and the sites are as diverse as historic property sites, public parkland and the road network.
Rochdale uses a Tree Management System based around a GIS system. In providing information, we use GPS survey equipment to accurately capture tree location details, and these location details along with key safety (BS5837) details are entered into their system. The information is captured on mobile tablets, and in line with Rochdale’s requirements is then reformatted for entry into their database system. Trees are individually numbered and referenced, meaning that we can be very specific about work and safety recommendations. Again, recommendations for work and timeframes are driven by a number of “site sensitivity” factors including tree condition, potential risk, community amenity values and other issues.
