Our consultant was instructed to carry out a subsidence survey at a property in Barnsley. In this particular case the subject property is a detached bungalow. Damage in the form of cracking has occurred to the projection of the building at the front of the house with the primary cause believed to be from the vegetation on site.
A TPO check was carried out prior to the inspection, and we were informed by Barnsley Metropolitan Council that there was no Tree Preservation Order in place nor was the site within a Conservation Area.
The tree in question was a young Leylandii and our consultant concluded that due to the high-water demand and the close proximity to the damaged area of the subject property, the Leylandii tree was highly likely to be contributing to the current damage. Therefore, it was recommended that the tree was removed as a precautionary measure.
